Shipping Options

• Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo): This is a cost-effective option for vehicles. RoRo vessels are specifically designed to transport rolling cargo. Our weekly sailings from Southampton offer competitive transit times to Brisbane, Fremantle, Melbourne, and Sydney.
• Container Shipping: We offer container shipping from Southampton. You can either arrange for delivery to our loading premises or deliver your vehicle yourself. We accommodate both operational and non-operational vehicles and load them into containers. Most container sailings to Australia occur weekly.

Quarantine Inspection

To comply with Australian Quarantine Inspection Service (AQIS) regulations, your vehicle must be thoroughly cleaned inside and out. Ensure it is free of all quarantine risk material (QRM), including seeds, soil, mud, clay, animal material, insects, and plant material. The importer is responsible for meeting these standards.

Required Documentation

When shipping cars, trucks, vans, or motorhomes to Australia, we require copies of the following documents:

• Vehicle Registration Certificate (V5C): Or equivalent title document.
• Consignee’s Passport: A photocopy of the passport page containing personal details.
• Purchase/Sales Invoice: A detailed invoice for the vehicle.

RoRo Shipping

• Direct route: Southampton to Halifax, Nova Scotia
• Transit time: Approximately 8 days
• Free time: 5 days at the port for customs clearance and fee payment
• Benefits: Safer, more economical, and efficient shipping method
• Securement: Vehicles are securely parked and strapped within the ship.

Container Shipping

• Destinations: Vancouver, Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg
• Sailings: Weekly departures from Southampton, Tilbury, Liverpool, and Felixstowe
• Delivery: Vehicles are delivered by road or train to inland destinations.
• Benefits: Secure and reliable shipping option

Import Regulations & Eligible Vehicles

To import a used vehicle into Canada, it must comply with Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Act (MVSA) standards. Not all vehicles are eligible for permanent importation.

• Age: 15 years or older (determined by the manufacturing date)
• Buses: Manufactured before January 1, 1971
• Non-regulated vehicles: Vehicles not classified under MVSA
• New vehicles: Acquired abroad through a manufacturer’s foreign buyer program
• Returning vehicles: Canadian or U.S. compliant vehicles originally owned in those countries

RoRo Shipping

• Frequency: Regular sailings
• Transit time: Approximately 42 days
• Security: Vehicles are securely fastened below deck.

Container Shipping

• Frequency: Weekly sailings from Southampton
• Transit time: Approximately 29 days
• Personal items: Load personal belongings inside the container.
• Security: Containers offer enhanced security measures.

Import Restrictions

• Emission and noise regulations: Vehicles must meet China’s standards.
• Exemptions: Petrol cars manufactured over 20 years ago may qualify.
• Personal imports: Vehicles owned for at least six months in the UK or overseas.
• Pre-shipment approval: Obtain approval from the Environmental Protection Department before shipping.

Shipping Costs

The cost of shipping depends on the destination port. Kawasaki, Hitchinaka are generally cheaper than Yokohama and Toyohashi. RoRo shipping is typically more cost-effective than containers.

Import Restrictions

• JAF certification: Vehicles must conform to Japanese regulations and obtain a Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD) certificate.
• Pre-shipment inspections: Vehicles must undergo emissions testing before being driven in Japan.
• Temporary importation: Vehicles staying in Japan for less than a year may be imported without paying duties or taxes.
